The Process
A transparent look at every step of our ethical harvesting journey.
Step 01
Each bear is evaluated by our veterinary team to confirm coat readiness. Thickness, length, and overall condition are graded against our 14-point quality standard. Only bears scoring 9 or above are scheduled for harvest.
Step 02
The bear is gently guided to our purpose-built harvest suite — a climate-controlled environment designed in consultation with leading animal behaviourists. Calming music plays. The space smells of pine.
Step 03
A light sedative is administered by a licensed veterinary professional. The bear enters a calm, twilight state — aware of its surroundings but deeply relaxed. Heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature are monitored continuously throughout.
Step 04
Using our proprietary non-invasive technique, the coat is carefully and completely removed in a single piece. Processing time is typically 90 to 140 minutes depending on coat density, with an average yield of 4.2kg of Grade A living fibre.
Step 05
The bear is transferred to our aftercare suite where it is wrapped in organic cotton blankets and monitored around the clock. Warm IV fluids are administered. Most bears are standing within 6 hours. Full coat regrowth begins within 3 weeks.
Step 06
Once cleared by our veterinary team — typically within 5 to 10 days — the bear is returned to the free-range habitat. No follow-up complications have ever been recorded. The bear resumes its natural routine until its next scheduled assessment.
Free Range
Before and after harvest, our bears enjoy acres of pristine wilderness.
Our ethical bears explore forests, streams, and meadows daily. Freedom isn't just a marketing term — it's their reality.
Minimum recovery time ensures coats regrow fully and naturally. We never rush ethical renewal. Each bear is assessed by our veterinary team before being cleared for their next giving cycle.
Even during recovery, bears access secure outdoor paddocks. Fresh air is essential for ethical healing.
Always alive.
