The Journey
Every client's journey is different, in the way that every flight is different. Ours has six stages and arrives at the same place.
Stage 1 — Incident Sourcing & Placement
Through our network of affiliated assessors we identify an incident with a strong liability profile and place you, administratively, at its centre. Placement is confirmed by post. You do not need to have been present. Presence is an evidentiary matter and is handled by our affiliated litigation practice, who find that it resolves itself in most cases.
Stage 2 — Claim Development
Our affiliated practice, Ambulance Chasers & Sons of Woking, develops the claim to its strongest form. Their fee is deducted from the settlement, which means that in a real sense they work for free. Client feedback describes their litigation as "thorough, expensive, and elsewhere on this website."
Stage 3 — Structuring
When a settlement is reached, our structuring desk designs the payout. The standard product is a fixed monthly payment over a term of years, with no lump-sum option. We are often asked why we do not offer a lump sum. A lump sum is where our clients historically come to regret their independence.
Stage 4 — The Quiet Period
The payments begin. Stage 4 lasts between three and five years and is the only stage we cannot shorten, because during it the client is simply someone receiving payments. We offer a range of Journey Services for this period, including the Certificate Framing Programme and periodic statements you can hold.
Stage 5 — The Exit
When the client is ready — and some are ready sooner than others — our Liquidity division purchases some or all of the remaining payments at a discount rate you will find immediate. The transfer is confirmed by a court, which must be satisfied the sale is in your best interest. Our Hearing Preparation Programme supports you through this requirement.
Stage 6 — Arrival
You receive your cash now. The journey concludes with a short survey and a certificate of completion. Clients who wish to journey again are invited to rejoin at Stage 1, where our assessors will be pleased to hear from them, subject to diminishing incident availability and, in some cases, to medical grounds.
A worked example
The following example is illustrative. It is our most common journey, completed in 43 months, and we publish it because we are proud of it.
| The Journey | Amount |
|---|---|
| Settlement face value | $500,000.00 |
| Incident sourcing & placement fee (4.5%) | −$22,500.00 |
| Affiliated litigation fees | −$118,000.00 |
| Settlement structuring fee | −$14,800.00 |
| Hearing Preparation Programme | −$2,400.00 |
| Remaining value in your settlement | $342,300.00 |
| Partner discount rate applied at exit (52%) | −$178,000.00 |
| Your cash now | $164,304.00 |
The partner discount is applied by our partner purchaser, Wentlow Liquidity Partners, a division of Wentlow Capital Group. Figures are rounded to the nearest dollar. The journey is not.
What could you do with $164,304?
It is a natural question, and the answer is: whatever you like. It is yours now, which is the entire point of now. Clients use it for homes, vehicles, education, opportunities, and in several documented cases a boat. The $500,000 remains available only at its published schedule, which is no schedule at all, because it is now the property of someone else.
