Aftercare
Every bear receives world-class care during stabilisation, before being released — alive — into our wildlife retreat.
Wrapped in our signature organic cotton blankets, Aurora rests comfortably ahead of her release. Her vitals are excellent and she's already showing interest in her favourite berries, which await her in the retreat.
Barnaby's stabilisation is progressing beautifully. Twice-daily vitals checks remain within normal parameters. His second-week vocalisations are considered entirely within acceptable limits. He has been enjoying extended classical music therapy sessions, which our team has found effective in managing periods of nocturnal restlessness prior to release.
Recovery Standards
Every bear, in the days between harvest and release, receives the same exacting standard of care.
Dedicated veterinary staff observe each bear around the clock during stabilisation. Heart rate, temperature, and behaviour are logged every two hours. Any deviation triggers an immediate review before release.
Each bear is wrapped in our signature organic cotton recovery blankets, sourced from a certified ethical supplier in Portugal. The blankets are replaced daily. The old blankets are composted.
Standard protocol includes warm IV fluids for the first 12 hours post-harvest. Our veterinary team considers this essential prior to release, and we do not compromise on it.
Our aftercare suites feature carefully curated playlists. Debussy and Satie are favoured. We attempted modern jazz during a trial period in 2022. The bears were not receptive. We returned to Debussy.
Always alive.
