Accommodation preference

Based on your medical assessment, we will assign you to the most appropriate accommodation category. You may express a preference below. Preferences are noted and then entirely disregarded during the allocation process, which is determined by arrival order, dormitory capacity, and which bed is closest to the stove.

Which accommodation category do you prefer?

All categories include three hearty meals daily, winter clothing, and access to the retreat's full programme of activities. The primary difference is the level of physical engagement and the number of residents sharing your dormitory.

Category A — Active Lodge
Shared dormitory (up to 200 residents). Full forestry duties. Three meals daily. For residents who wish to experience the retreat at its most invigorating. Axes provided.

Category B — Supported Lodge
Shared dormitory (up to 150 residents). Light duties — sorting, workshop, camp maintenance. For residents who prefer a gentler routine. Still very much in the forest.

Category C — Care Lodge
Shared dormitory (up to 100 residents). Full care provision. No activity requirements. Soft meals available. Bedside call system (response within 48 hours). The forest respects everyone equally.

Preferred retreat location

All three locations offer an authentic Siberian retreat experience. The differences are primarily a matter of temperature, tree species, and the precise shade of grey that the sky maintains for eight months of the year.

Birchwood Village, Tyumen Oblast
Silver birch and Siberian pine. Moderate terrain. Average winter: −22°C. Growing season: approximately nine weeks.

Larchwood Falls, Novosibirsk Region
Dense Siberian larch. Flagship retreat cluster. Home of the table tennis league champions, 2024. Average winter: −24°C.

Pineridge Heights, Krasnoyarsk Krai
Scots pine. Extraordinary views. The horizon does not end. Average winter: −30°C. Winter clothing mandatory October through April.

Dietary requirements (optional)

Meals are hearty, communal, and rich in complex carbohydrates and root vegetables. Residents with specific dietary requirements are encouraged to bring a 12-month supply in their 23 kg case. Gluten-free options are available on alternate Thursdays when the supply lorry has not been delayed by wolves.

Accommodation is assigned upon arrival and cannot be changed except on medical grounds or by escaping, which the Programme assesses as "negligible" during winter months (October through April, sometimes May).
